Akume tipped to take over from Adamu as APC national chairman

A former Benue State governor and current Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, has been tipped to take over from Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a Newspaper reported it.

Adamu is said to be on his way out following the post-election crisis within the party.

It was gathered that Akume, who has been a political ally of President-elect Bola Tinubu since 2011 when he joined the defunct Action Congress (AC), one of the forerunners to the APC, is seen as the proper man to take over from Adamu, due to his vast knowledge of party politics.

Besides, Akume delivered Benue State for Tinubu and the APC, having displaced the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
