NDLEA Arrests Woman With 800 grammes methamphetamin, Secures 17 Convictions

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Rivers State, have arrested a woman, Angela Sunday, with 800 grammes of methamphetamine with street value of over ₦4 million.

NDLEA public affairs officer, Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, who disclosed this yesterday, in a statement made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt, said Sunday was arrested during a raid at her hide-out at Odagwa-Etche community in Etche local government area of the state.

Ogbumgbada stated that 250 grammes of cannabis sativa and 59 grammes of heroin were also in the possession of the suspect as at the time of her arrest.

He stated that another suspected female drug dealer, Juliet Eze, was arrested in the same community with 47 grammes of cannabis sativa, seven grammes of methamphetamine, 3.5 grammes of cocaine and three grammes of heroin, respectively.

 Ogbumgbada said 25 other suspected drug peddlers were arrested during raids in different parts of the state in the past one month.

The statement reads in part, “On Thursday 6th April, 2023, at about 5pm, operatives of NDLEA Rivers State Command executed a raid operation at Odagwa, Etche and arrested one Angela Sunday ‘Female’ in possession of 800 grammes of Methamphetamine, with a street value of Four million naira (N4,000,000.00).

“She was also found with 250 grammes of Cannabis Sativa and 59 grammes of Heroin. Still on the same operational stride, one Juliet Eze ‘Female’ was  found with 47 grammes of cannabis sativa, seven grammes of Methamphetamine, 3.5 grammes of cocaine and three grammes of heroin, respectively.

“In a similar development, acting on a tasking order from the Agency’s Directorate of General Investigation (DOGI) and credible intelligence provided by a whistle blower, operatives of the Command in Ahoada executed another  raid operation at Omoku, at about 9am on Friday 7th April, 2023, and arrested one Monday Lucky ‘Male’ with 2.5 grammes of Methamphetamine and 1 gramme of Cannabis Sativa, respectively.

While at about 10:30 am of Friday 7th April, 2023, our operatives at Okrika Area Command of the State arrested one Johnson Baadee ‘Male’ with 4.3 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa at Ogale – Eleme.

“Meanwhile, in the month of March 2023, the Command arrested 23 drug peddlers such as seventeen (17) males and six females with a total drug seizure of 208.864 kilogrammes comprising cocaine, heroin, cannabis sativa, methamphetamine (aka Mkpurunmiri) and psychotropic substances.

“The command also secured conviction of 17 drug defendants at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt. They are all serving their jail terms at the Port Harcourt Correctional Service Centre.”
