Police Disown Letter To Raid IBB Varsity Students’ Lodge over alleged internet fraud

Niger State Police Command has disowned a letter in circulation allegedly seeking permission to search students’ lodges for alleged internet fraud.

The police public relations officer (PPRO) Wasiu Abiodun said the letter believed to have originated from Lapai Police Division requesting permission to search students’ lodges was untrue.

“The Command therefore categorically wishes to state that such letter does not emanate from the DPO or the Command as it connotes misinformation and is untrue in its entirety,” he added.

“However, a suspected case of forgery has been established and the purported letter is being scrutinized for forensic investigation to arrest the mischief maker,” the PPRO said.

He said members of the public are advised to kindly disregard such letters in circulation, while news reporters should be professional enough to verify and confirm reports from the Police Command before circulating or making any publication.

The clarification came on the heels of the publication by an online medium that the police were planning to raid the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai students’ lodge.
