Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) has issued a one-week ultimatum to all political parties to remove their campaign posters and billboards or face the wrath of the law.
The director-general of BASEPA, Dr Ibrahim Kabir, said this in a press conference with journalists in his office.

He said the exercise is not targeted at witch-hunting anyone or any political party but rather to strictly ensure the state remains clean and tidy, as it is the tradition of the agency carrying out such exercise after any festivity and political periods.
Kabir explained that to ensure the success of the clean-up exercise, it will be carried out in synergy with the mother Ministry of Housing and Environment as well as some sister agencies including Bauchi State Urban Development.
The director-general said at the expiration of the ultimatum, the exercise would be carried out across the state to remove all political posters on official signboards and buildings and private apartments as well as billboards on roundabouts, junctions and pedestrians.
He said all the political parties in the state will receive the notification letters, to let the public know of the forthcoming exercise.
