  • June 15, 2023
  • Unity Times

The member representing AMAC/Bwari (Abuja North) federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Joshua Chinedu Obika and the senator representing the nation’s capital, Senator Ireti Kingibe, have promised to work together to provide quality representation for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the National Assembly (NASS).

At a reception organised for Obika by the Labour Party (LP) in Abuja after the inauguration of the 10th NASS on Tuesday, he said he would team up with Senator Kingibe to fulfil the electoral promises they made during their campaigns.

He thanked those who contributed to the success of the party during the elections, including the support groups, saying their victory couldn’t have come if they had done it alone.

“Each person contributed to the success, everyone worked so hard, everyone participated, even those who are not exco members, including the support groups. Kingibe and I will ensure that the promises we made during the campaigns are not fake, the FCT must wear a new look. This is the best combination in representation and very soon we will begin to see a new FCT,” he said.

Obika said they would not discriminate on the basis of tribe or religion but work to change the politics of FCT and carry everyone along.

“God gave us a new purpose to move everyone forward,” he added.

Senator Kingibe also promised to ensure synergy with Obika to make the FCT a place of inclusion where everyone’s interest is served.

” We came to honour Chinedu because the two seats complement each other. Chinedu and I are partners in the journey. He is a hard-working and capable man and will go far in the FCT, ” she added.

The chairman of the inauguration ceremony committee, Eyisi Okey Nwoke, described the event as a day of joy to share memories of the campaigns and also thanked the support groups for their efforts.

The reception was attended by representatives from all sections of the party across the FCT and traditional rulers from within the territory.

Obika, a businessman from Enugu-Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of Anambra State, was voted into the National Assembly in the 2023 general election on the platform of the Labour Party.
