NAHCON Moves 10,000 Pilgrims, Others To New Tents In Muna
  • June 29, 2023
  • Unity Times

National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has stated that 10,000 Nigerian pilgrims out of the over 95,000 partaking in the ongoing 2023 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia will be moved to the new tents allocated to the commission by the Saudi’s company in charge of African Non Arab Pilgrims, Mutawwif, in Muna.

The chairman of the commission, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, disclosed this yesterday’s night after the inspection and taking over of the tents.

The 10,000 capacity tents were allocated to Nigeria to cushion the painful effect of the hot weather suffered by the country’s pilgrims on arrival in Muna, a suburb of Makkah, on Monday due to inadequate tents.

Hassan who led a team of his management staff for the inspection and taking over said the measure will certainly mitigate the hardships, and hoped that the pilgrims concerned would cooperate in view of the fact that they only have two days remaining to stay in Muna.

The NAHCON chairman expressed satisfaction with the facilities at the tents, saying  pilgrims from the FCT, Kogi and those of the tour operators would be moved to the new site.

The representatives of the Saudi’s company pledged that enough vehicles would be stationed within the tents for the next two hours to evacuate the stranded pilgrims to the new tents in the Turkish arena.

Recall that since Monday, NAHCON has been battling to solve the twin problems of inadequate tents and feeding arrangement for pilgrims by the company. The company had pledged to right all wrongs for the comfort of Nigerian pilgrims as the pilgrims themselves shift attention to the symbolic stoning of stan after successful Arafat outing.
