Dabiri-Erewa attends PAUD, appeals for unity among Africans abroad

Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and other PAN-AFRICANISTS attend the 2020 Pan African Unity Dialogue(PAUD) and Malcolm X Commemorative Session in New York under the leadership of the Institute of Black World 21st Century.

The Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa, who was the special guest of honor, emphasized the need for unity and cooperation between Africans abroad and those back home to develop the continent.

“It is important that we work together. If the Chinese, Indians, Asians are investing in Africa, why aren’t the African Americans?

“We have a powerful group in this hall this afternoon. At the end of this session, we need to work together to develop the continent; that is your region, that is your home.

“We have a program that welcomes you; it is an economic connection, it is a spiritual connection, it is an emotional connection, a physical connection, it is a deep connection.

“That connection must be developed, it must be strengthened within the continent of Africa and between our brothers and sisters in the diaspora,” she said.

The event emerged out of a recognition of the growing presence of “NEW AFRICAN COMMUNITY” in the U.S.; a community enriched by the arrival of the increasing numbers of Continental Africans and People of African Descent from the Caribbean, Central, and South America.

Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora, Hon. Tolu Akande-Sadipe spoke on the need to collaborate, using words of Malcolm X to illustrate the need to first find dignity in identifying with our roots Mother Africa.
