Bandits invade Sen Walid Jibrin’s residence, demand N5b, ammunition

Armed bandits have invaded the Abuja residence of the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin.

The bandits, who invaded and ransacked the residence, asked the occupants to produce the sum of N5 billion, arms and ammunition allegedly hidden in the house.

According to The Guardian, the bandits invaded Jibrin’s residence, with sophisticated weapons as they ransacked the building in search of the former PDP BoT Chairman, who was away on a journey.

They, however, carted away valuable items and vital documents. Addressing newsmen in Kaduna, Senator Jibrin said some suspected bandits/kidnappers forcefully entered his rented house at Brains & Hammers Estate, Apo 3 FCT, Abuja, vandalised his main bedroom, and went away with vital documents.

According to him, they tied up his houseboy, Awwalu and “told him that they came to take away N5 billion hidden by me and also take away some so-called ammunition kept by me, but unfortunately they found nothing at all.”

Jibrin added: “Though I was not at home when they came, in the afternoon a fortnight ago, they forced my House boy, Awwalu to the bedroom, but alas they found nothing. They took my house boy away and later dropped him somewhere after informing him that they were looking for N5 billion and some ammunition kept by me.

“The bandits numbering eight came with about seven Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) with sophisticated ammunition. And I have since reported the matter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), who directed the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to handle the matter. The CP is still investigating the case.

“I want to announce that I have never kept such an amount of money or any ammunition in my house. It is important also for the world to note that I do not own any personal house in FCT, Abuja. And I don’t have any personal house in my Local Council headquarters, in Nasarawa State.”

Jibrin added: “I challenge anybody who is thinking that I have any such amount mentioned by the bandits to come and check my bank accounts. All my bank accounts are free for checking by any authority, please.”
