Despite dumping the movement to support the policies and administration of President Bola Tinubu – which many described as a betrayal to the Obidient group and Peter Obi – members of the group showed solidarity for his family.

In various photo posts shared on X, leaders and members of the movement said they were at Okupe’s family House to condole with his family.

Yunusa Tanko, the leader of the movement wrote on X, “We want to thank  Morris Monye, Ife Salako, Danjuma Musa, Ekene NNPO and everyone that visited the Okupe’s family in condolence visit of the demise of Dr Doyin Okupe.

“The team was received by his son Sunkanmi Okupe who appreciated the visit and show of concern to the family. He thanked everyone for organizing the visit.

“Yes we are Obidients and Proud but we will never compromise our demand for Good Governance and as human beings, our empathy will always show…………. A New Nigeria is POssible,” he said.

The visit by the members of the Obidient Movement comes barely hours after Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate paid a condolence visit to Okupe’s family.

Obi visited the family alongside, Gbadebo Rhode-Vivour, the 2023 governorship candidate for Labour Party.
