ADC crisis: Heavy security, roadblocks as tension mounts at INEC HQ

Tension gripped the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja on Thursday as security was tightened following its decision to delist the leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Armed personnel of the police and DSS were deployed in large numbers, while roads leading to the Maitama office were blocked amid fears of protests.

The move comes after INEC removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its portal and suspended recognition of all party factions pending a court ruling.

The development triggered outrage among party supporters and allied groups, who had planned a protest tagged “Occupy INEC.”
