The Mandate Movement has issued a firm warning against the imposition of candidates ahead of the 2027 elections, accusing rival faction Justice Forum of sidelining key stakeholders.
At a tense stakeholders’ meeting, faction leader Muraina Taiwo described recent endorsements carried out without consultation as a deliberate attempt to manipulate party structures.
“This is not consensus,” he argued. “This is exclusion.”
The controversy stems from a unilateral endorsement of candidates in Oshodi-Isolo — a move the Mandate Movement says it neither approved nor participated in.
To restore balance, the group is demanding the creation of a joint consensus committee with equal representation from both camps.
At stake is more than internal harmony.
It is the credibility of the party’s democratic process.
While the Lagos APC leadership has since nullified the disputed endorsement, tensions remain high — and the warning is clear:
Any attempt to impose candidates could fracture the party from within.
As 2027 approaches, the real contest may not just be at the polls — but inside the parties themselves.
