PDP in Leadership Limbo After Supreme Court Verdict, Turaki Camp Warns

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Tanimu Turaki has declared the party effectively leaderless following a contentious Supreme Court ruling.

In a statement by spokesman Comrade Ini Ememobong, the group said the judgment—delivered by a panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba—has left the party without a clearly recognised leadership structure.

The court upheld earlier rulings nullifying the PDP’s Ibadan convention, citing disobedience of a subsisting court order. However, dissenting justices argued the matter was purely internal and should not have been entertained by the courts.

The Turaki faction warned that the fallout could push the party toward a “dangerous bend,” with implications not just for the PDP but for Nigeria’s multi-party democracy. They urged urgent steps to restore order and legitimacy within the party.
