The National Pension Commission has approved Pension Fund Administrators to invest in the upcoming Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering, marking a major development in Nigeria’s financial and energy sectors.

The approval means billions of naira in pension assets could potentially flow into the highly anticipated market listing of the refinery.

Industry experts say the move reflects growing confidence in the refinery’s long-term commercial viability and strategic importance to Nigeria’s economy.

Supporters argue that allowing pension investments could generate stronger returns for contributors while deepening Nigeria’s capital market.

However, some financial analysts have urged caution, warning that pension assets must be protected through strong regulatory oversight and transparent governance structures.

The Dangote Refinery remains one of Africa’s largest industrial projects and is expected to play a major role in reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel.
