Escalating Conflict Raises Fresh Concerns Over Global Oil Markets and Regional Stability

Washington’s military campaign against Iranian strategic infrastructure has entered another phase after President Donald Trump declared that American strikes would continue “until I say that is enough.”

The remarks followed several days of reported strikes targeting military installations and strategic facilities linked to Iran’s defence capabilities.

Iran has accused Washington of escalating regional instability and warned that continued attacks could provoke broader retaliation across the Middle East.

Energy analysts note that prolonged military confrontation threatens international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime corridor for global oil exports.

For African economies—including Nigeria—continued instability could produce mixed consequences.

Higher crude oil prices may boost export revenues for oil-producing countries while simultaneously increasing domestic fuel costs and inflationary pressures.

International diplomatic efforts continue as several governments urge restraint to prevent further escalation.
