Works Minister asks states and communities to support infrastructure delivery
Minister of Works David Umahi has called on Federal Controllers of Works and stakeholders across the states to strengthen supervision, engagement and public communication around federal road projects.

The minister’s intervention reflects a growing recognition that federal infrastructure cannot be successfully delivered without cooperation from state governments, communities and other stakeholders.
The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation said Umahi urged the ministry’s representatives in all 36 states and the FCT to intensify supervision and ensure Nigerians are properly informed about ongoing and completed projects.
Why the regional dimension matters
Nigeria’s road network is a national economic artery. When a major federal road fails, the consequences are felt by farmers trying to move produce, manufacturers transporting raw materials, traders moving goods and commuters travelling between states.
The minister’s call for stronger regional stakeholder engagement is therefore important. Road construction is not merely an engineering exercise.
It is also about land, communities, compensation, traffic management, security, environmental concerns and continuity of funding. The challenge now is to translate announcements into roads that Nigerians can actually drive on
