The director general of the Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu has revealed that he inherited over one billion, two hundred thousand dollars in debt when he took over office recently.
The DG, who stated this when the Buhari Friends. Organisation. Network visited him in his office yesterday, noted that out of the debts, diesel to power the station and transmit, took N30 billion.
While urging Nigerians to be patient with President Mohammed Buhari’s administration despite the obvious challenges, the VON boss said thesame situation of debt and miss management characterised most of the government agencies and that is what PMB is trying to clean up.
He however, noted that the efforts of the current administration are not yet noticed because of the massive corruption in the system before they came in and pledged that with the corporation of Nigerians, things will soon turn out good.
He noted that despite the current challenges, Nigerians will enjoy the fruit of president Buhari’s efforts when the results begin to manifest, which will not be a long time again.
Earlier, the coordinator of the organisation, saint Athanasius Okon had identified multiple taxation; increase in petroleum prices, foodstuff, education and transportation; and unemployment as some of the major problems facing Nigerians now.
He had also called for the intervention of PMB in appointing appropriate and qualified persons into key position as one of the ways of tackling these challenges identified above.
