Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has inaugurated a N250 million aquaculture training centre at Umunto autonomous community in Umuahia South local government area of Abia State.

Ogbuku appealed to youths in the state to acquire the skill, adding that it would make them not only to be self-employed, but also creators of wealth and employment.

While assuring that the commission would not abandon any project in the state, he added that it would rather focus on completing ongoing ones and expanding the facility.

The state representative-designate on the board of the commission, Eruba Dimgba, said the event had demonstrated the commitment of the commission to youth empowerment.

He urged the host-community to protect the facility which was completed since 2020, adding that its presence would attract the development of other physical infrastructure around it.

According to the project supervisor of the commission, Kingsley Azu, the facility is adequately equipped and has enough space for future expansion.

Similarly, the traditional ruler of the community, Eze E. O. Okwubunka appealed to the commission to engage the youths in securing the facility for maximum benefits.

Represented by a leader in the community, Mr Ifeanyi Umekwe, he extolled the commission for citing the facility in the community and assured of the people’s support for the programme.
