The commissioner explained that the police got intelligence from a resident in the area, who suspected illegal activities going on at the games house.

He said on February 11, at about 11:30pm, he personally led the tactical teams of the command in the newly launched operation Velvet to raid a marked black spot, Gidan Dambe, in the Dei-Dei -Zuba axis and arrest the suspects.

During the search, one English pistol with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition was recovered from one Ibrahim Tukur, who claimed to be a DSS personnel.

He said the house serves as a resting and convergence place for kidnappers terrorising the FCT, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Kaduna states.

He said after the raid, guns, charms, codeine, Indian hemp, cutlasses, victims’ phones, and motorcycles, among other exhibits, were recovered.

The commissioner, however, stated that after thorough investigation and screening, the suspects will be prosecuted in court.
