According to Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, the MD/CEO of REA, along with Olaniyi Netufo (Executive Director, Corporate Services), Barka Sajou (Executive Director, Technical Services), and Sa’adatu Balgore (Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund), have been suspended pending further inquiry

Tinubu has appointed Abba Abubakar Aliyu as the new MD/CEO of REA. Additionally, Ayoade Gboyega, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Doris Uboh, and Olufemi Akinyelure have been named as Executive Directors and Head of Project Management Unit, Nigeria Electrification Project, respectively.

The President emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in public service, expecting all appointees to uphold these standards. He reiterated his commitment to good governance and quality service delivery to Nigerians.

The wider investigation into the alleged financial misconduct aims to ensure accountability and restore public trust in the agency’s operations.
