Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai visited the National Secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

El-Rufai paid a consultation visit to the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, sparking speculations about his political intentions and affiliations for the upcoming elections.

El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has long been associated with the ruling party.

However, his visit to the SDP’s headquarters has raised eyebrows and fueled discussions about potential shifts in his political allegiance.

According to a Newspaper source, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam described El-Rufai as a friend with a high political pedigree, adding that Nigeria needed transformational leaders like him.

The source further added that Gabam appreciated him for the visit, saying that ‘’it’s time for all stakeholders in the country to put aside ethnic, regional and political differences to move the country forward more, especially at this period when the country is facing serious challenges ranging from hunger, insecurity, joblessness, kidnapping, inflation among others.”
