Ugwuanyi, who felicitated the elected candidates, said he wished all of them success in their different polls.
In a goodwill message signed by him and made available to the media in Enugu on Wednesday, August 14, Comrade Ugwuanyi admonished the candidates to not only prepare for the election but also for good governance, since what is important to the masses is not just the election but good governance. He also noted that he believes all of them are qualified; that’s why the party delegates elected them as their candidates.
The message reads: I sincerely want to congratulate you all for your election by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as flag bearers for the forthcoming local government council elections. I must say that you all are qualified and well-deserved. Its important, as we plan for the elections, that we plan and prepare beyond the elections. I believe what the masses who will be voting for you at the polls are mostly interested in is the aftermath of the elections, which is good governance. And so, let that be your priority.”
Anthony also appealed to the candidates to prioritize entrepreneurship and industrialization in their governance. He said that, as an advocate of the One Family One Industry, he believes that true economic development in our society is possible if every family, institution, and community has an industry that will contribute to the growth and well-being of the society.
Ugwuanyi said One Family One Industry is an initiative that seeks to establish an industrial foundation or system in which each family owns at least one manufacturing/producing industry, and that could be easily achieved through the instrumentalities of government and the church.
He said, “Our first target is to lay the principles that will help the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Barr Peter Mbah, establish at least 27, 260 manufacturing industries in the state and help him move the GDP of Enugu State to $50 billion through the implementation of our visions/Principles”.
Recall that, on Wednesday August 14, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu conducted the primary elections to nominate candidates for the forthcoming Local government council elections in the state.
The local government primaries were held concurrently in all 17 LGA Party offices, with a large attendance of party delegates and stakeholders in the council regions.
The PDP earlier held congresses that elected its councillorship candidates for the 260 electoral wards of the state.
