Mr Balogun said their visit was aimed at seeking partnership with Akwa Ibom state government through the office of the Special Assistant to join in the government’s initiatives of offering entrepreneurial training for Nigerians, including Akwa Ibom youths living in the FCT and the 19 northern states and to raising the standards of living for them through entrepreneurial development.

He explained that as part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of their organization and considering the high rate of poverty in Nigeria and its consequent effect, Leadership Newspaper Group Ltd was making plans to lift 2 million youths in Nigeria out of poverty through capacity development programmes .

He stated that the training would involve animal feed production, honey production, tie/dye, and ICT, amongst others.

Balogun said the Organisation was seeking financial assistance to enable it cater for the cost of acquiring materials and other resources for both classroom training, practical as well as online mentorship where trainees would be seriously engaged.

He assured that the training would offer many Akwa Ibomites resident in the FCT and beyond the opportunity of benefiting from His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno’s Leadership.

Earlier on, the Managing Director, Mr Nda_Isaiah pointed out that they were committed in the drive to reducing poverty to the barest minimum and so far, the organization had consulted the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, some State Governors and prominent individuals towards making strategic partnership for a successful hosting of the training programme.

In his response, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilisation in Abuja, Comrade Kingsley Iwok appreciated the group for their commitment towards poverty alleviation and their recognition of Pastor Umo Eno’s developmental strides in Akwa Ibom State.

Iwok informed the team of government’s interests in youths development and empowerment pointing to Ibom-Led entrepreneurial scheme that government is currently using in building and developing the skills of many Akwa Ibom youths.

The Governor’s aide hinted that Governor Eno who is running a pro-peoples concept of governance, has invested millions of naira on takeoff grants for the trainees to kick start their own businesses.

He assured the group that the government would want to collaborate with them since their initiative was in line with the government’s zeal in poverty reduction and uplifting the standard of living for every Akwa-Ibom.
