NASS refutes reports of 2025 Budget Presentation
  • November 27, 2024
  • Unity Times

The National Assembly has dismissed social media reports that President Bola Tinubu will present the 2025 budget to a joint session on Wednesday.

In a statement released to journalists yesterday in Abuja, the secretary of research and information at the National Assembly, Dr. Ali Umoru, refuted the reports, calling them false and urging the public to disregard the misleading information.

“The purported claim that the 2025 budget will be presented tomorrow is untrue. The necessary legislative process for budget presentation, including the approval of the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), is still ongoing,” he said.

Umoru emphasised that all official announcements regarding National Assembly activities should come through authorised channels.

He also warned against spreading unverified and false information, which undermines public trust in the legislative process.

This clarification comes as Nigerians await the formal presentation of the 2025 budget, expected to detail the government’s fiscal and economic priorities for the year ahead.

The National Assembly reiterated its commitment to transparency and responsible governance, urging media outlets and individuals to verify information before dissemination.
