Nigeria and the United Kingdom have signed three key agreements to strengthen cooperation on migration management, border security and business mobility.

The deals—covering a Migration Partnership, organised immigration crime, and expanded business visas—were signed in the UK by Nigeria’s Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on behalf of the Federal Government.
Tunji-Ojo said the agreements reflect Nigeria’s commitment to a transparent and orderly migration system that aligns with national interests while supporting international obligations. He added that the partnership is designed to deliver mutual benefits and measurable results within a year.
The minister also emphasised that improved visa policies would boost trade and investment, in line with the economic agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Responding, UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood described Nigeria as a key partner, noting that it is the first country to reach such a comprehensive migration agreement with the UK.
UK Trade Envoy Florence Eshalomi added that the expansion of business visas would unlock new economic opportunities for both countries.
The agreements are expected to deepen collaboration in tackling immigration crime, strengthening border systems and improving ease of doing business between Nigeria and the UK.
