The protest, tagged #OccupyINEC, followed the commission’s decision to remove key party leaders from its records and suspend recognition of all factions pending a court ruling.
Demonstrators, including supporters of various opposition movements, accused the government of attempting to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections, chanting “Tinubu must go” during the rally.
Other political heavyweights, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, and David Mark, were also present.
While the opposition alleges a plot to create a one-party state, the ruling All Progressives Congress insists the crisis is internal and self-inflicted.
