A fresh political realignment is unfolding in Oyo State after thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress reportedly defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The defectors were received at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, in an event attended by APM leaders and Governor Seyi Makinde.
The group was led by Ajiboye Sangogade, a former aide to ex-Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu who recently lost the APC governorship primary.
The development comes as political parties begin strengthening their structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
Governor Makinde welcomed the defectors and expressed confidence in the APM’s prospects in the state.
The movement could have implications for the distribution of political structures across Oyo, particularly as parties seek to attract influential grassroots actors ahead of the next election cycle.
