The new governor was sworn-in at exactly 11:58am while his deputy, Professor Ngozi Ordu, took her oath of office at 11:50am.

Dignitaries at the event included immediate past governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and his wife, Justice Suzette Nyesom-Wike, former governor Peter Odili and his wife, Justice Mary Odili as well as the immediate past Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom.

It was observed that Wike left the venue of the inauguration after handing over the Rivers State flag and official documents to Fubara.

In a brief speech, the immediate-past governor said: “Your Excellency, the governor of Rivers State, I hereby hand over the flag of Rivers State and official documents to you. Thank you and God bless.”
