El-Rufai drops magistrate from N1bn rights suit

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai has withdrawn his suit against a magistrate in his N1 billion fundamental rights case before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The court, presided over by Joyce Abdulmalik, granted the request after the former governor’s legal team moved to strike out the magistrate’s name from the suit.

The case, which involves the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, police, and the Attorney-General, challenges the legality of a search conducted at El-Rufai’s Abuja residence.

The court adjourned the matter to June 17 to allow amendments, despite objections that removing the magistrate could weaken the case.
