Akwa Ibom indigenes resident in Kaduna State have declared support for Governor Umo Eno’s re-election ambition, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, pledging to mobilise eligible voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made at an enlarged meeting of the Akwa Ibom Community in Kaduna, where more than 100 members reportedly endorsed Eno for a second term, citing what they described as his inclusive leadership and performance under the ARISE Agenda.
The endorsement followed a motion moved by the community’s Vice President, Mr Ukoh Akai, which received unanimous approval from members present.
Governor’s Mobilisation Team Engages Community
Addressing the gathering, Dr Kingsley Iwok, Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization, Abuja, commended the community for its turnout and show of solidarity during the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna on October 24, 2026.
Iwok said his visit was intended to appreciate the community’s participation and brief members on the state government’s reported achievements in areas including agriculture, rural development, infrastructure, security and education.
“I am here to thank you for your overwhelming turnout yesterday to show a formidable presence of Akwa Ibom indigenes as a practical demonstration of our state’s support for Mr President and Governor Umo Eno’s purposeful leadership,” he said.
He urged eligible voters to prepare for the 2027 elections, describing participation at the polls as an opportunity for citizens to express their views on the performance of the current administration.
“The time has come for us to pay back the Governor by voting for him as a reward for his good leadership,” Iwok said, pointing to the administration’s initiatives in agriculture, rural development, infrastructure, security and education.
Iwok, who also serves as Deputy Coordinator of the ARISE with Renewed Hope Initiative (AWRHI), Abuja, conveyed a goodwill message from the initiative’s Coordinator, Comrade Tommy Etim Okon, PhD.
He said the initiative remained committed to extending its mobilisation activities to Kaduna and other parts of northern Nigeria under the leadership of its President General, Engr Uwem Okoko.
Call For Unity And Continued Support
Also speaking virtually, another Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization, Hon. MmemaObong, commended the community’s leadership and members for their support for the administration, urging them to remain united and engaged.
Community leaders, in turn, expressed appreciation for the governor’s outreach through his mobilisation team, describing Dr Iwok’s participation as a significant gesture in the history of the association.
They pledged to encourage eligible Akwa Ibom voters to participate in the 2027 elections and to canvass support for the continuity of the ARISE Agenda in the state and the Renewed Hope administration at the federal level.
The meeting highlights the growing importance of engagement with indigenes living outside their home states as political actors begin preparations for the next electoral cycle.
For the Governor’s mobilisation office, the Kaduna engagement represents an opportunity to strengthen communication with Akwa Ibom communities beyond the state, encourage civic participation and build networks capable of reaching eligible voters ahead of 2027.
